Enrichment

Enrichment courses are embedded within our curriculum and school day. Parents/children are able to choose from a variety of enrichment programmes each term including baking, gymnastics, speech and drama, music and movement and swimming.

JoyKids views enrichment programmes as an integral part of the education for our children, and to that end offers a wide range of After School Activities (ASAs) that aim to inspire areas of interest in the children that perhaps they would not be exposed to through the normal curriculum.

Enrichment classes are encourage for every child at the school. Parents could choose ASAs in each per term, usually representing a balance between active/sport and more intellectually challenging programmes. Every student is required to stick to any given club for at least a term, reinforcing the idea that any commitment to learning must be followed through.

Benefits of the Enrichment Programme at JoyKids

Physical Development

When children participate in sports and outdoor activities, they experience exercise and acquire life-long physical and mental fitness. Combined with other life skills like learning how to prepare and eat well-balanced meals, children will be familiar with the basics of living a healthy lifestyle.

Creativity

Offering children a variety of activities provides an outlet for creativity and problem-solving. Obvious choices are arts and crafts, music, performing arts, but other activities like sports can teach problem-solving and strategy skills. The best activities for your children are those that encourage their natural curiosity and interests.

Stress Relief

Constructively participating in an activity where children are social and free to laugh and express themselves within an open and calm environment teaches children healthy ways to deal with stress. The more we are able to find positive ways to deal with stress, the better we feel.

Self-Confidence

When children learn new skills and engage in social activities, they become more self-confident. Learning social skills like cooperation, negotiation, and conflict resolution in a fun and relaxed environment helps them to interact appropriately with others – a skill valuable in all aspects of life.

Team Spirit and Camaraderie

Teamwork is important in home life as well as at work. Team sports require children to work together to achieve a common goal and remove the focus on the individual. Sports are not the only activities that teach teamwork, other activities like drama and dance also promote teamwork.

A new enrichment selection form is sent home at the beginning of each term that includes activities such as swimming, athletics, ball games, art and crafts and many others.
