Employment Opportunities at JoyKids International Preschool

We have high expectations of our staff. Most of our caring and excellent head teachers have over 10 years of Montessori classroom experience. They are loving, creative, respectful, supportive educators who know the potential and needs of the age groups they work with. Most of our assistant teachers have gone above and beyond the minimum educational requirements for their position. Many hold degrees, Montessori certifications, assistant teacher credentials, or have long-standing careers in early childhood education. JoyKids reviews all teachers on an annual basis. All teachers are constantly monitored to ensure quality interactions with children and staff, curriculum standards, and quality of the environment.

Nursery & Assistant Teacher

Responsibilities

This position requires love, patience and respect for children. The teacher will encourage the children to be independent and model for them appropriate manners and behaviors. The teacher will also instruct children in activities designed to promote social, physical, and intellectual growth following the montessori method by performing the following duties :

  • Adhere to company and safety policies and procedures.
  • Become knowledgeable with Montessori terminology and methods.
  • Assist the head teacher with providing the children with a “prepared environment”: Keep the classroom clean and inviting.
  • Assist with individual and/or group activities to stimulate growth of the children in social, emotional and academic areas.
  • Assist the children by moving around : Complete different work cycles. Choosing work. Returning work when the child completes his task.
  • Encourage individual work time to promote independence as well as group work to promote socialization.
  • Be present at parent/teacher conference.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with children, parents and co-workers.
  • Participate in all open houses and school programs.
  • Serve snack and lunch while helping children to learn how to help themselves.
  • Allow children to be as independent as possible.
  • Teach small group lessons.

Requirements

  • Candidate must possess at least Certificate of KAAK or Certificate in Early Childhood Education from a recognised institution in Malaysia. Candidates with Diploma in Early Childhood Education and above will have an added advantage.
  • At least 2 years of relevant professional teaching experience, preferably in an childcare/kindergarten environment.
  • Willingness to acquire knowledge of inquiry based learning is required.
    Applicants must be fluent English speakers.

School Administrator

Responsibilities

This position requires excellent communication and customer service skills. Administrator should also have love, patience and respect for children. Administrator will assist with the daily office operations to ensure the school is a secure and nurturing environment for children.

  • Respond to specific inquiries and provide information required by parents.
  • Act as school’s receptionist, greet visitors and parents and answer phones.
  • Assist in the daily operations and recruitment of students.
  • Maintain & increase internal customer service awareness by recording and communicating customers forecast, problems and expectations.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the work place.
  • Maintain accurate and orderly records.
  • Assist the Principal and Directors as needed.
  • Assist in writing monthly newsletters.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of relevant professional administrator experience, preferably in an childcare/kindergarten environment.
  • Applicants must be fluent English speakers.
  • Experience with payroll and bookkeeping.
  • Experienced in Microsoft Office.

School Nurse

Responsibilities

  • Reports to the Head of School and Support Services
  • The successful applicant will be a member of the school support staff to offer a broad skill set in clinical and community health nursing, project planning and management
  • Administers all medications
  • Administers first aid as needed and oversees general health needs
  • Assist in the planning for emergency evacuation and safety drills
  • Counsels on medical issues and illness, and referring to the school principal as and if needed
  • Maintains infection control procedures
  • Follow-up on injured or very ill students
  • Monitors daily usage of the school clinic
  • Maintains secure storage of all medications
  • Maintains clean environment in the clinic
  • Maintains medical supplies and records, purchasing and identifying budget requirements, organising and implementing health talks and maintains confidential medical records with the school’s leadership team

Requirements

  • Current Certified / Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse
  • Current First Aid and CPR Certification
  • Ability to observe students for development and health patterns in making a nursing judgment and diagnosis
  • Ability to implement plans for students with chronic health problems and coordinate the administration of medication within state laws and Board policies
  • A very good command of written and spoken English, with an added advantage of being able to communicate in Bahasa Malaysia
  • Ability to work closely with school personnel, parents, children and government agencies
